Securikett at interpack: Turning Regulatory Obligations into Competitive Advantage

Münchendorf, February 2026

The new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation and the Digital Product Passport present manufacturers with challenges, but they also create opportunities. At interpack 2026, Securikett will demonstrate how regulatory requirements can be transformed into real competitive advantages through an intelligent combination of product security, sustainability, and digital transparency.

Counterfeit products on the rise; manufacturers respond
The global market for counterfeit products is growing rapidly. At the same time, EU regulations such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the Digital Product Passport (DPP) are tightening requirements for manufacturers. Many companies see these developments merely as obligations and additional costs.

“Our customers report issues with product counterfeiting as well as major problems within the distribution chain and gray market activities,” explains Werner Horn, CEO of Securikett. “Uncertainty is increasing, but the good news is: the solutions neither have to be overly complex nor require changes to existing processes.”

PPWR compliance: sustainability meets product security
EU packaging regulation demands higher recyclability. At interpack, Securikett will present modern security label solutions that combine both: improved recyclability and tamper-evident labeling.

A highlight is the PaperVOID series, in which security labels can be recycled together with paper and cardboard packaging. For plastic packaging, Securikett offers security labels made of PP with PP recyclate. “Sustainability and security are not mutually exclusive,” emphasizes Vanessa Mitterer-Kling, Head of Research & Development at Securikett.

“An essential part of a modern approach is the digital traceability of products – a seamless transition to the second focus of the trade fair,” adds Stefan Führer, Head of Codikett, Securikett’s digital verification and traceability platform.

Digital Product Passport: from obligation to opportunity
“While many companies view the Digital Product Passport as a regulatory burden, Securikett shows how it can create strategic value. The combination of tamper-evident product labeling and a secure digital platform opens up new possibilities,” says Stefan Führer.

Product data can be used not only for service processes, but also to provide transparency for end customers, strengthen customer loyalty through interactive experiences, and enable sustainable business models such as refurbishment, leasing, or deposit-return systems.

The Digital Product Passport can deliver significant added value for both companies and consumers.

“The DPP is far more than a compliance document,” Führer continues. “At the trade fair, we will present best-practice examples. Those who recognize the potential early will clearly gain a competitive advantage.”

Measurable benefits for users
The benefits are concrete and measurable: by linking physical products with digital information, manufacturers and end customers can verify authenticity and origin within seconds – visually or using their own smartphone, without any additional app.

Experience it live: hands-on solutions
At the Securikett booth, visitors can experience live how modern security and labeling technologies work and how physical and digital product security interact.

“Our goal is to show how manufacturers can respond to the uncertainties of an increasingly fast-growing counterfeit market without having to overhaul their entire processes,” concludes Werner Horn, inviting visitors to this year’s industry meeting in Düsseldorf. “Often, a secure track-and-trace platform and an intelligent security label are sufficient to achieve decisive improvements.”
