Product Piracy

The word “product piracy” is a good description of the criminal actions of counterfeiters.

• Robbery of the development work of brand owners is the
  number one activity of criminal organizations. In the
  pharmaceutical and technical sectors, it accounts for up to
  90 % of the added value.
• Robbery of market shares, which have been built up by the
  activities of brand owners.
• Consumers are being harmed by products in poor
  condition, without any value and effect, or even contaminated.
• Product piracy is harmful to economy, it
  discourages R&D activities in the respective environment. If
  development work is immediately counterfeited, there is no
  return on investment for the research work.

Often the circumstances under which counterfeited products are manufactured are catastrophic. Massive violation of environmental regulations, use of harmful substances, significant violation of labor law, and illegal child work are part of it, almost as a matter of course. Therefore consciousness has to be created that whoever buys a counterfeited product is also supporting such criminal structures.
